We do important work for the most vulnerable children, including right here in Switzerland: around 30% of all refugees who have recently arrived in Switzerland are children. Whether they are young children or teenagers who have fled without their parents – they all need a safe place to recover from the hardship of having to flee, and opportunities to play and learn. Parents are often exhausted from constantly worrying about their children, and need support to process what they have experienced and find their way in their new environment.

CHILD-FRIENDLY ASYLUM SHELTERS

Working with refugee children is a key focus of our programmes in Switzerland. With our projects, we support asylum centres throughout Switzerland in implementing child- and youth-friendly activities, and parent education.

How we help

EDUCATION

We work together with employees in asylum shelters for several months to support them in running regular, skill-building, child-friendly activities for refugee children.

HEALTH

We run workshops for refugee parents to provide them with practical knowledge on how they can help themselves and their children with trauma-related stress.

CHILD PROTECTION

We work with employees to develop child protection initiatives in asylum shelters, so that refugee children can grow up in a safe environment.
