WHAT IS ‘BANKERS ON DUTY’?
With the possible spreading of COVID-19 across countries with deficient health systems, a group of professionals from banking companies has come together to take up a challenge: provide pneumonia treatment to half a million children at risk.
Because being supportive today can change the world of tomorrow.
800,000 CHILDREN DIED FROM PNEUMONIA ONLY IN 2018
Pneumonia is the leading cause of infant mortality in children under five. This fact is particularly heartbreaking as the treatment for this disease only costs 4 Swiss francs per child. Pneumonia cases are as high as the challenge we have set for ourselves: raise 2 million Swiss francs to prevent the death of half a million children under five.
It is ethically inadmissible to allow millions of children to keep dying for lack of affordable vaccines and antibiotics.
‘BANKERS ON DUTY’ COMING TOGETHER TO take up THE CHALLENGE AND SAVE HALF A MILLION CHILDREN
The average treatment a child requires to fight this type of pneumonia and to recover is three doses of amoxicillin per day for 5 days. Save the Children works in countries like Ethiopia, Somalia, Sudan or Kenya to prevent children from dying of preventable causes; however, the lack of resources given the global pandemic makes it even harder to reach all those in need. We now have the opportunity to raise 2 million Swiss Francs to provide 500,000 children the treatment they need!
