What does a child need to survive? Food. Protection. Hope. What are children in Gaza receiving instead? Bombs. Hunger. Fear. Our CEO, Adrian Förster, puts the situation in clear terms.
We cannot remain silent
Children are dying from malnutrition, the lack of medical care, and from violence. Over 18,000 children have already been killed. 930,000 children in Gaza are on the brink of famine. This is undeniably a war crime—a moral failure we cannot simply witness in silence.
What must happen now:
- Humanitarian aid must be allowed into Gaza—immediately and without obstruction.
- Switzerland and the international community must act: Our Federal Council must demand the protection of civilians, the unhindered access for aid organisations, and the respect of international humanitarian law.
- An immediate and definitive ceasefire remains the only way to truly protect children.
What we do at Save the Children:
- We hold the line — ready with people and resources to help, no matter how difficult the conditions.
- We provide help—non-militarized, guided by clear humanitarian principles: neutral, impartial, committed solely to saving lives and the well-being of children.
- Silence and inaction are not options. We raise our voice for those who cannot.
Food is rotting on trucks at the borders while people just a few kilometers away are dying of malnutrition. Children stand in line between bombed-out buildings, waiting for the last distributed meals. Babies are born already malnourished. Parents watch helplessly as their children grow weaker by the day—this is unimaginable, yet it is daily reality for the people in Gaza. Switzerland and all states worldwide must help end the blockade immediately and enable humanitarian organisations to deliver life-saving assistance.
