Information about the partnership

Since its foundation in 1970, the passion for motor sports has been at the heart of Sauber.
Since 2019 the Alfa Romeo F1 Team of the Swiss company Sauber Motorsport works together with Save the Children, to ensure that children in Switzerland and around the world survive, learn and are protected.

Alfa Romeo F1 Team contributes with this cooperation to the promotion of the following generations. Save the Children’s logo will be visible on both cars from the 2019 FIA Formula 1 season on the “Front Wing Main Plate” position.

"It is a great honor for us to initiate a partnership with a child rights organization that supports such an important cause and strives to provide children with the safe and positive environment they need to realize their goals and dreams one day. We look forward to working with Save the Children as the team's Official Charity Partner, and to familiarizing our fans and the entire motorsport community with your projects."

GARAGE TIME

The current pandemic affects everyone without exception, but it hits the most vulnerable members of our global society particularly hard: children in poor regions, crisis areas and refugee camps. The #GarageTime campaign aims to help this vulnerable section of society, corralling the values of the Sauber Group – cohesion, dedication and teamwork – in these times of need.

November 2020: Charity Auctions

Alfa Romeo F1 Team is auctioning unique memorabilia and donates all profits to Save the Children. The Auction includes for example a Kimi Raikkonen 2019 Signed Replica Helmet. The Auctions run until the 17th of November here.

April 2020: #GarageTime Special collection

The limited #GarageTime collection by Alfa Romeo F1 Team supports children and their families affected by the current COVID-19 pandemic. The clothing items are available in 15 different colours and prints and are customizable. The designs show the new logo #GarageTime (Sauber House) as well as fourteen pictures celebrating the Grands Prix of the 2019 season and Melbourne 2020. All funds raised by the sales of this special collection will support the worldwide projects of Save the Children. Together with the Sauber Group, we for example are able to increase the support for national health systems, and raise awareness among parents and caregivers on how to provide psychosocial support to children during this pandemic.

Not every child has a shelter in times of pandemic, so it is important we do what we can to help Save the Children reach out to them. I invite you all to join us in the #GarageTime project and play your part to support children in need.

Field visit in Mexico

Kimi Räikkönen visits Save the Children aid project in Mexico City

Alfa Romeo F1 Team’s former driver, Kimi Räikkönen, visited one of our projects in Mexico City after the Mexico GP.

In 2019, Finnish ace Räikkönen visited one of our education projects in Mexico City. The program with the HEART approach (Healing and Education Through the Arts) aims to strengthen the capacity of children to face shocking emotional situations and contribute to the improvement of their emotional processes as well as increase their resilience.

Räikkönen did handicrafts and took part in activities with vulnerable children. With joint communication and media involvement, we drew attention to the difficult situation of children in emergency situations.

Today I saw many beautiful things. Not many children have this kind of education and a safe place to learn. The nicest thing is to see them laugh. It makes me proud to be a Save the Children charity partner through Alfa Romeo F1 Team.

Auctions for a good cause

In the 2019 racing season Alfa Romeo F1 Team auctioned off exclusive items and experiences for a good cause. Among other things, VIP experience packages or unique collector’s items such as a wheel rim from the race in Bahrain 2019 came under the hammer. All proceeds from these auctions were donated to Save the Children.
