Late on Friday evening September 8, a magnitude 6.8 earthquake, followed by a 4.9 aftershock, struck the southwestern parts of Morocco. The epicenter of the earthquake was identified in the High Atlas Mountains at a depth of 18.5km. The death toll has risen to thousands of deaths with hundreds of people injured.

We fear that the number of victims will rise as many people are trapped in the rubble and in hard-to-reach areas in the south of Marrakech.
